More is Less, Less is More

This theory is actually hard to explain without any images. As the example being use in this post is laptop. Before looking at the picture below, a laptop that almost everyone could think of or refer to is in black color, thick and heavy. That is what we can see in the market as well.
However, the picture being shown above is different from what we can think of and imagine of. The appearance of the laptop is nicer. Almost everything is improving by its form as well as its performance.

More is less, less is more can be explain by its own design. Referring back to the picture above, the screen of the laptop is transparent and thin. It can produce better image quality that a normal laptop. Hence, the screen is more in its quality and lesser in its usage of material because the screen is thinner.

It is often used in the design todays because people prefer more simple yet unique designs.

Forms follow Functions or Functions follow Forms

Forms is usually refers to the physical appearance of a particular objects.
Functions is refers to the usage of the objects.

In the architecture especially, the buildings being build is often referring to its form or functions. What it means is that, sometimes the building is build according to the design they think they want to without focus on the functions. For instance, Malaysia Petronas Twin Tower, KLCC is build according to the function but not the forms. The function of KLCC is actually a telecommunication centre. That is the reason it being built.

Therefore, The title of this blog, 'Forms follow Functions or Functions follow Forms' is actually based on how the designers want it to be. Besides architecture, it is being used in poster designs or any other form of designs as well.

However, sometimes the forms and functions come together in the design as well. For example is this blog, besides its function for the bloggers to updates their post, they can actually design the appearance of the blog according to how the blogger want it to be.

For the conclusion, forms follow functions or functions follow forms is actually depends on the situation and the designers.

Urban art

MOC & MOS
Malaysia 2010

I think not much of you guys or people in Malaysia familiar with this events. It is an event held around the world including Malaysia, sort of a gathering of 'hidden' artist like graffiti artist and others extreme sports.
Meeting of Characthers (MOC) was held in Klang Valley near Jelatek on 23rd and 24th October. It was not so happening compared with the biggest gathering on 4th and 5th December at Pasar Seni riverbank.
People would think of what those guys are doing by vandalising and polluting the wall. However, as far as I know, graffiti or known as urban art is becoming part of socialize in the city. The concrete jungle could be dead and dull without these people decorating the city with colours. For better understanding, this kind of activities are start to being accept by people. It is no longer being criticize by civilians about thier act.
No picture would be shared in this post. For those who really appreaciate art would seek information about both this event in Malaysia as well as other countries.
Both these links below will provide information and pictures about the events.

This is an extra links that I would like to share. It is something new for me with the way the picture was taken. Take a look by youself.

Puzzle

Design principles explain about every part of the elements being used in the design.
No matter what form, the design is unique and is like a puzzle for a designer to solve.

A puzzle is not just as simple as what we usually see. If we apply it into an object, just like what is shown on the picture above, it is 'creative'

Quite a brilliant idea isn't it?
As well as a rubix cube. It is another form of puzzle and in this case it is a toy for people to play with in order to squeeze your brain's juice.

As simple as that. A puzzle would not be just a puzzle. If apply it wisely onto design to fuse with other elements. Something interesting and unique could be created.

Amazing structure

One of the tallest structure ever built is the bridge located in France.
Millau bridge, France

The Millau Viaduct used seven monstrous piers to build this bridge. It was designed by Norman Foster. The cables of the structure resemble rigs of big ships.
The height of the bridge is 1125 feet on the Tarn Valley.
Imagine yourself to be 63 feet higher than the Eiffel Tower!!!
It became a tourist spot rather than supposely use to speed up the traffic. This bridge is links to the sourthern portion of France.

If you have a chance to go overseas. It would be good to get some experience on some of the amazing structure like this Millau Bridge.

Falling In Love!

...My Sony Ericsson W580i is officially dead few months ago...

Deciding what phone to buy next, and this logo comes in my mind.
Apple!!!

Malaysia was officially launched iPhone4 during mid September. It was not that easy to get one during that particular month.

Since Digi and Maxis is the only coverage in Malaysia that offering iPhone4, we have to decide which one to go to purchase it, in which it comes together with data plan with a 2 years contract.
I get my experienced in queueing up for 3hours to wait my turn to purchase it from Digi last time. It was not that bad comparing with my friends who bought it from Maxis that takes him 2 days to get it. By the time he successfully get the iPhone4 was already 3.30am in the morning.

Go for smartphone for those who wants to get a new phone.
It will not be just a trend but it make your life easier by not carrying your 4kg laptop around.
Just give it a try.

p/s: All the pictures above were picked from google image search. No offence in stealing any of the picture for my own use. I was just sharing with everyone who visit my blog.

Concept Store

Action City!
This shop is one of my favourite stores that I will visit everytime I went to The Gardens. Overall the interior of this shop is colourful.
Rather than just a normal toys shop, this shop playing with their own concept. Notice the decorations in the shop. All tiny little toys are being decorated all over the place.
Most of the people who loves toys will tend to like this shop with full of their own collections.
Limited edition collection of toys, especially BearBricks can be found inside these glass shelf, being one of the attractions in the shop.
Other than that, there are alot of products that can be use and not just for decorations as well. It would be nice to have one of the collections found in this shop.
Feel free to visit this shop if you want to find some nice, attractive, unique and collectable toys.
